Vintage ethereal handmade weaving
Vintage ethereal handmade weaving
Found this years ago at an estate sale, brilliant, delicate, vintage and ethereal handmade weaving. Whisper thin, from 1960s or 1970s. The weaving was loose on frame, and in danger of unravelling. Hired Helen Miller, a classical upholstery artist, to redo the binding to save the piece; she used linen thread and did a PERFECT job. Blues and purples, it is museum quality, a historic item from a moment in time. Evocative of the hippy era, Free to Be You and Me. The days of fiber art dedication. If hung on a wall, the colors are vibrant, if hung in a window the colors would be muted during the day, and vibrant at night. It is Sausalito house boat, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Haight Ashbury and the Beat poets. It’s really that brilliant. Fans of the Solstice, this is the piece for you.
