Chair: frame is cane, hand painted Greek and folk motifs, black hardwood, and a hand painted medallion featuring a Greek female bust suspended in circular patterned cane! So good! The fabric is thick, high quality South African vintage cheetah and protea flower themed. I have never seen anything like it- my husband is South African, and we have never seen this fabric on our travels there. The arms have a *double* layer of cane, and there isn’t a single flaw on this chair. Perfect fabric, perfect cane, perfect frame. From the estate of an incredible African art collector, I am guessing the chair is quite old, and the upholstery was probably 1980s. I imagine the fabric was purchased on one of his trips and brought home to recover the chair. Even the seat under the cushion has been covered. It is beyond fabulous.
